Power Should Belong to the People!

Divisive politics affects ALL areas of our lives, from our relationships with family and friends, to how we show up at work or what opportunities we take or don’t take.

The first text message I received back from a voter said “If you’re a DemocRAT, I hope you all go down in flames.”

This is what happens to our community when we are forced to pick sides. We no longer see the person- we only see an enemy.

The Design of Oregon’s Two-Party System

  • Oregon’s primaries are closed, which means you may only vote for candidates from your own party.

BUT this means that 1,191,402 Oregonians would have to change their registration to vote in important primary races, like Governor, US Senator, US Representative, State Senator and State Representative.

  • The rules reinforce the status quo…

Example: Democrat and Republican Governor Candidates can pay a filing fee of $100, but a Non-Affiliated Governor Candidate would need 23,477 signatures to file or go through a SUPER complicated Assembly of Electors process.

Example: Non-Affiliated and Minor Party Candidates are not allowed to be on the primary ballot, which reduces exposure to voters.

  • Candidates need money and support, but organizations aren’t likely to endorse and provide resources to candidates in partisan races who are outside the two-party system.

  • To be a viable candidate, you have to have already made inroads into one of the two major political parties. People who want to run for office have to play by the rules because the parties hold all the power.

What power? They and everyone knows that the public won’t seriously consider candidates who aren’t listed as Democrats or Republicans.

What Does Oregon Need?

  • Non-Partisan Ballots

  • Open Primaries

  • Ranked Choice Voting

  • Campaign Finance Reform

Why Elect Me?

I am a Social Worker, Mother, and Advocate with grassroots policy development and coalition-building experience and I am NOT afraid to fight against the established powers.

Our communities are hurting- and worse yet, it has become our new normal. Resources are too concentrated in the bigger cities- Oregon doesn’t have enough housing and prices are skyrocketing- People are struggling to make ends meet…

There ARE solutions! My Rural Cooperative Initiative creates affordable and stabilized housing prices, increases home ownership, reduces overall living costs and incentivizes people to relocate to rural areas. When more people move to rural areas, we will receive more resources to strengthen our public transportation system, bolster our education system and build a more vibrant economy. Read more about my Rural Cooperative Initiative in my Issues Section.

How You Can Help

The best way to support the campaign is to set up recurring donations of $15, $25 or $35 per month.

When a lot of us pitch in a little bit, we can create BIG results! If 200 people set up recurring donations, this campaign will have the resources to WIN!
